Formed in the fall of 2005, The Hsu-nami defines East meets West and has become the first Er-hu Rock Group in America.  Their unique fusion introduces the Er-hu to new listeners.  It's the definite combination of an Asian cultural icon and the tenacity of American modern rock.

In the summer or 2008, Hsu-nami's music was featured in the 2008 Bejing Summer Olympics. Their song, "Rising of the sun", was picked to be the entrance theme for the Chinese Basketball team. The song has also been played during walk-ins, timeouts, and was incorporated with a martial arts routine during half time.

The group has performed with national acts like, Yellowcard, ChthoniC, Nightmare of You, The Parlor Mob, World Leader Pretends, and Jet Lag Gemini.  They have also performed many festivals, including the Coalition of Asian Pacific Americans Festival, and the Passport 2 Taiwan Festival (both held in Union Square NYC). In addition to headlining many Anime Conventions like The TekkoshoCon in Pittsburg, The ArmegediCon in Columbus Ohio, and the TandokuCon and the Zenkaikon in the Philadelphia area.

The group has headlined many clubs/venues such as the Stone Pony in Asbury Park NJ, the Mexicali Blues Cafe in Teaneck NJ, The Highline Ballroom in NYC, The Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre in Long Island, the Trocadero Theatre in Philadelphia and the one of the closing nights at CBGB's in New York City. They have also performed for many charitable organizations such as the Ronald McDonald House, Safe Darfur, Unicef, and the Asian Film Festival (ACV/AAIFF).

Jim Beckerman, a journalist from "The Bergen Record", wrote a feature story about the Hsu-nami on August 10th 2008 regarding their music being featured in the Beijing Summer Olympics. The story got picked up by Associated Press, and Hsu-nami instantly received national coverage from media outlets such as, WCBS 880, 1010 wins, Fort Mill Times, NJ.com, Philly.com, redorbit.com, spokesmanreview.com, NBC sports, USA Today, and the International Herald Tribune (the global edition of the New York Times).

Hsu-nami has been featured in many magazines and local papers like The Aqaurian, Chorus and Verse Magazine, The Bergen Record, Ins and Outs Magazine, The Chinese World Journal, The Journal News, and The Northern Valley Suburbanite.
